If you would like to have your own page on this website, here is what you do:
1) Send an email to [email protected] or to [email protected] Please put "women writers" in the subject line.
2) Include the personal information you want to appear on your page. This could be your bio, personal statement, photo, contact info, list of published works and where to purchase, a link to your personal website, etc. Whatever you like. You can always edit or change the information. If you want your street address or email address posted, please include it with this information. Otherwise, we will not post it in order to respect your privacy.
3) If you want a photo on your page, attach a .jpg image to your email.
4) Attach the writing you wish to appear on your page. It would be best if your work is submitted as a "word document" (.doc file) attachment to your email. If that is not possible, send your information in whatever format you can and we will try to work it out.
If you have long pieces, we will put them on your page one at a time. If you have a number of short pieces, send them in a single email.
This website is to showcase a sampling of your writing and to inspire others in their work. It is not your personal web page; however, you may use it to direct traffic to your personal web page. Space and resources are somewhat limited. We may be able to present a chapter of your book but it is unlikely we could include the whole book. A website "page" will scroll down to include the equivalent of many pages written in a notebook or on a computer.
This new website as a work in progress. It will continually adapt to best serve the women’s writing community.
We do not discriminate. So yes, men are welcomed to have a page on this site.
If a piece of writing seems unsuitable for this venue it will be reviewed by the Writer's Board and a determination made whether or not it will be published.
All rights are the exclusive property and responsibility of the author. If anyone wishes to publish or reproduce any of the work on this website they must first receive permission from the author. This may be done by contacting the author directly or by contacting the Appalachian Heritage Alliance who will contact the author.
A note to poets: Formatting on a website works differently than formatting on your word processor. The many choices of internet browsers (Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc,) the abundance of word processing programs, and the variety of screen sizes (from small smart phones screens to large computer monitors, will present technical problems in how your work will appear on this site. Since formatting is important to the poem, this is an issue we will have to work out together. We want the poem to appear on the page just as you intended.
Cost: Due to the generosity of the Kentucky Foundation for Women (thank you, thank you, thank you) there is no cost to you for this service at this time; and hopefully never will be. In the future, if we cannot find foundation or corporate support--which we will continually seek--we may need to ask for a donation. This website is a community service, not a business. If someday we need to ask for funds it will be to keep the site up and running, not to turn a profit. Donations to the Appalachian Heritage Alliance are always gratefully appreciated.
